In May, the Canisius College Board of Trustees approved a new mission statement and strategic plan, entitled A Transformational Education. I am delighted to formally unveil them to you today on the strategic plan website. Here you will find the revised mission statement, new vision and values statements, and of course, the detailed plan. These documents represent a bold new direction for Canisius, one that will enhance the living and learning experience for our students, promote academic excellence and our Catholic, Jesuit mission, and secure our future.

Currently, we are embarking on a new approach to link our strategic planning with budgeting and assessment. In the coming months, divisions, units and departments of Canisius will begin crafting their plans in concert with the university-wide goals, objectives, and strategic actions of this plan.

I want to thank the members of the Long-Range Strategic Planning Committee for their excellent work on the plan over the past year and for the valuable contributions that faculty, students, and staff have made to the planning process through our campus forums.

As we are trying to conserve paper and resources, a limited number of printed copies of the plan are available. Please utilize the website, which is accessible on the Canisius homepage, as your information source on institutional planning and encourage friends, colleagues and alumni to visit it.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact my office.
