President Hurley Recognized With JAA’s Highest Honor


Canisius President John J. Hurley accepts the Rev. J. Barry McGannon, S.J., Award from Mary Kay McFadden, vice president, university advancement, Seattle University and president of JAA.

The Jesuit Advancement Administrators (JAA) recognized Canisius College President John J. Hurley with its 2011 Rev. J. Barry McGannon, S.J., Award.  The award, created in 1994, is the highest honor JAA bestows upon its members.  The recipient distinguishes himself within the Jesuit system, contributes to the development of institutional advancement, shares his ideas and experiences with fellow institutional advancement professionals and establishes himself as someone whom others strive to emulate. Hurley accepted his award at the JAA Conference at Seattle University on July 11.

Global Entrepreneurship Competition Comes To Campus

Canisius College will host this year’s Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) World Cup Tournament on July 22 – July 26. One hundred and eighty teens from 14 countries will compete in the ninth annual tournament. Canisius faculty members will join business and education leaders from across the globe to judge the competition.

“The SAGE World Cup Tournament presents a wonderful opportunity for our international guests to visit our great city and our campus,” said Canisius College President John J. Hurley.

Help Residence Life Welcome The Class Of 2015

It’s hard to imagine but it’s already time to think about freshmen check-in.  The Office of Residence Life expects the largest freshmen resident class since 2007 and faculty and staff are needed to help greet and move in the newest members of the Canisius family on Wednesday, August 24 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Any time that Canisius faculty and staff can spare is welcomed, and Residence Life will provide breakfast and or lunch to all volunteers. Last Chance To Sign Up For Annual Blue & Gold Golf Classic

Time is running out to register for the 14th Annual Blue & Gold Golf Classic.  Only a few openings remain for the tournament, which will be held Monday, August 1 at the Brierwood Country Club in Hamburg, NY.  The event begins with lunch at 11:30 a.m., followed by golf at 1 p.m. and beverages and dinner after golf.  Golfers of all abilities may register as a single player or as part of a group.
