Hall of Fame Day Highlights Busy Weekend

“Griffin Spirit Week – Keep the Cup” moves forward this weekend with a pair of exciting events.

Friday night, the Griffs host Rider at 7 p.m. in the Koessler Athletic Center (KAC). Prior to the contest, Canisius will host its annual “Pack the KAC Night” with complimentary food from Dagwood’s and Buffalo’s Steak and Sub. Also included will be a chicken wing eating contest; a game of knockout; appearances by the Dance Griffs, Cheerleaders and G-Squad; free New Era caps for C-block members; and free t-shirts from Pepsi.

Sunday is the annual Hall of Fame game with current Softball Coach Mike Rappl being inducted with former baseball great Keith Applegate and the 1948 football team. The first 1,000 fans to enter the gates will receive a voucher for a free Father Dugan Bobblehead Doll, in honor of Rev. Paul Dugan’s S.J. many years of service to the Athletics department. Game time on Sunday at the KAC is 2 p.m. with the doors opening at 1 p.m. A reception will follow the game at the Montante Cultural Center.

Canisius Chorale Launches Spring Season, Invites New Members

The Canisius College Chorale invites students, faculty and staff to join its ranks for the upcoming season of concerts. The group’s first rehearsal will be on Monday, January 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. Rehearsals will continue each Monday evening at the same time. No auditions are necessary for membership and everyone is welcome.

The course numbers for Chorale are FAM 181 (CRN: 40136) for 1 credit and FAM 171 (CRN: 40133) for 0 credit.

The Chorale just ended a very successful Fall season that included performances throughout Western New York. Its acclaimed “Sacred Spaces” series brought hosts of eager listeners to a number of the region’s most beautiful and historic churches. Also, the choir’s annual Winter concert drew a capacity audience to the Montante Cultural Center again this year.

The coming season’s activities include performances in some of the region’s finest concert venues. Consider membership in the Canisius Chorale! Stop by our opening rehearsal on January 25 and share in the great experience of being “one body, one voice.”

Spring 2010 Educational Technology Tutorials

Free educational technology tutorials will cover an array of tools that will prove helpful in advancing student learning. They will be conducted completely on-line, via a Web conferencing system. This month’s ed tech tutorial is “Helpful Widgets for Students.”
