Diaspora on the Front Lines

The Borders & Migrations Initiative presents “Diaspora on the Front Lines: Filipino Health Care Workers and Covid,” an art installation on display through April 28 in the Science Hall Atrium and the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library.  The exhibit, by artist Rosem Morton, was originally commissioned and produced by the Friends of The Philippines Society USA Inc. and Photoville, for the Photoville Festival in Brooklyn Bridge Park, NYC.

The campus community will have an opportunity to hear from the artist on Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Science Hall Commons.

Rosem Morton is an internationally recognized documentary photographer and nurse based in Baltimore, MD. She is a National Geographic Explorer, an International Women’s Media Foundation Fellow and a We, Women Photo Artist whose work focuses on the intersection of gender, health, culture and resilience.

Rosem’s work appears in The New York Times, National Geographic, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, NPR and CNN, among others. She will discuss her career, as well as the specific themes and processes involved in her Diaspora on the Front Lines installation.

Interested parties may attend Morton’s talk in-person or over Zoom by typing the following link into their browser or clicking the blue text: c.anisi.us/RosemMorton
