Malini Suchak, PhD, weighs in on why our feline companions have a phobia of water in the latest edition of Inverse, an online science, technology and culture magazine. According to the professor and chair of ABEC and anthrozoology, a cat’s aversion to water isn’t due to a preservation instinct, as cats can swim and float if necessary. Rather, Suchak says, a cat’s hydrophobia comes from the water’s effects on their fur coats. Click here to read more.
