United Way Campaign Comes to a Close

Thanks to the generous donations made by Canisius faculty and staff, the college’s 2019 United Way Giving Campaign raised a total of $20,000.  This substantial gift helps those in need in our community, and enables the United Way to do the work that no one non-profit can do alone.

Special congratulations go out to the final two basket raffle winners: Brian Smith, director of international students and study abroad, and Shelia Pettigrew, senior assistant director of career development.

Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s campaign!

Adjunct Faculty Information Session

The Center for Online Learning & Innovation (COLI) invites all new, returning and current adjunct professors to an Adjunct Faculty Information Session to help prepare you to teach during the spring 2020 semester. Learn about employee resources, the library, the college mission, and technology for teaching and learning. Refreshments will be served.

The session takes place on Thursday, January 2, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Science Hall 1008. (This session was previously planned for Old Main 119 but has been moved.)

This is a fantastic way to get up to speed quickly on the essentials for teaching at Canisius College.  Adjunct faculty who are teaching at Canisius for the first time this spring can benefit but returning adjunct instructors are also welcome.

To RSVP, email coli@canisius.edu.

Charitable Gifts to the College

The Division of Institutional Advancement has always been aware of how fortunate Canisius is to have loyal donors. In order to ensure continued support and so our donors are able to claim the benefits of their gift on their 2019 taxes, please forward any donations that may have been received by your department to Advancement Services GM203 attention: Katie Huck.

All gifts to the college must be recorded in Banner so that a proper tax receipt may be issued by December 31, 2019.   This is an ongoing policy and as we get to the end of the calendar year, time is critical. If you have any questions please call Katie Huck at Ext. 8211 or Email huckk@canisius.edu.

Thank you and happy holidays!

Campus Candid

Students studying for exams received a friendly – and furry – welcome upon visiting the library Wednesday.

“Wiz,” a five-year old Terrier mix, spent the afternoon socializing with students and giving them some much-needed stress relief from their studies.

“Wiz” was recently adopted by Sandy Miller, director of corporate and foundation relations for the Division of Institutional Advancement.
