Canisius in the News

WKBW-TV Channel 7 recently featured Canisius student Joe Licata MSEd ’20 in a story entitled “What it means to be an athlete.”

Licata is the athletic director at Bishop-Timon and currently enrolled in the graduate P/HETE program at Canisius. Earlier this year, he started to incorporate wheelchair basketball into gym classes, an idea he had after taking an adaptive physical education class at Canisius, taught by Adjunct Professor Joe Evans.

This Week’s Food Trucks

Mineo & Sapio’s Street Eats will be on campus today, Tuesday, June 18 in the Bagen Hall lot for lunch from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The truck will serve signature sandwiches and delicious wraps. To add this event to your calendar, click here.

The BBQ Food Truck will be on campus this Thursday, June 20 in the Lyons Hall lot from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The truck will serve smoked chicken wings, ribs, pulled pork and chorizo. Canisius College Summer Basketball Clinics

Canisius College will hold two free basketball clinics at the Koessler Athletic Center over the next two weekends.

The women’s clinic will be run by Scott Hemer, head women’s basketball coach, his staff and team on Saturday, June 22 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The men’s clinic will be run by Reggie Witherspoon, head men’s basketball coach, his staff and team on Saturday, June 29 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

All participants must be enrolled in grades one through six due to NCAA compliance rules and regulations. The clinic will be capped at the first 100 participants enrolled. All clinic participants will also receive a gift from DICK’S Sporting Goods, sponsor of the clinics.

Parents can sign children up for the clinic by providing the name(s) of the participants, age(s), contact number, e-mail address and mailing address to Nick Wojcicki, sales coordinator for athletics, at nwojcicki@vanwagner.com or by calling (716) 888-8256.

TIAA Representative on Campus

Molly Amos, financial consultant for TIAA, will be on campus Wednesday, July 10 and Tuesday, July 23 in Old Main 110 for individual counseling sessions. She will meet with individuals to review and discuss current investments, answer questions and review their options to help meet retirement goals.
