New Trash and Recycling Stations in Old Main

On Monday, December 10 new trash and recycling stations will be unveiled in Old Main as part of the sustainability initiative at Canisius College to expand efforts to reduce waste on campus. This consists of a series of projects that you’ll hear more about in 2019. The first step is an enhanced recycling program that will kick off with a pilot in Old Main on Monday. Not only does this benefit the environment, but it will reduce the college’s costs for hauling trash. The new programs will also streamline the recycling and trash collection process, freeing up time for the housekeeping staff to work on other tasks resulting in a cleaner, more sustainable campus.

Stay tuned for more information on the pilot program coming in January 2019.

Adjunct Faculty Information Session

The Center for Online Learning & Innovation (COLI) invites all new, returning and current adjunct professors to an adjunct faculty information session on Monday, January 7 at 5:00 p.m. in Old Main 119. This session will help prepare professors to teach during the spring 2019 semester and learn about employee resources, the library, the college mission and technology for teaching and learning.

Just before the information session, there will be a faculty tour of the Andrew L. Bouwhuis library beginning at the library service desk at 4:00 p.m. The library is a complex organization with much to offer students, faculty and staff through its services, facilities and staff expertise. Its librarians are keen to support your teaching and research as well as your students’ learning. This tour is a great way to get to know the library.

These events are not mandatory but are a fantastic way to get up to speed quickly on the essentials for teaching. Adjunct faculty who are teaching for the first time this spring can benefit and returning adjunct instructors are also welcome. Refreshments will be served.

To RSVP, email coli@canisius.edu. We look forward to welcoming you to campus and to the spring 2019 semester!
