Canisius College will host a professional development conference for mathematics teachers on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Science Hall.  The conference, entitled “Mathematics: Making Connections,” is for mathematics teachers working with students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

Sessions offered will provide teachers with opportunities to discuss the common core in mathematics, successful strategies for reaching struggling mathematics students, differentiating instruction in mathematics for all students, and preparing students for college programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The keynote speaker will be Eileen Ryan, an elementary teacher in the Williamsville School District, who will ask us to “Please Watch Your Language” as she encourages us to make small changes to our mathematics communication skills.
