ArtsCanisius and the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library invite you to an art reception on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Library outside the Peter A. and Mary Lou Vogt Gallery. The gallery will display works by LeRoi Johnson from the Canisius College Art Collection, which were previously installed at the Burchfield-Penney Art Center for the exhibit “LeRoi: Living in Color.” That exhibit ran from November 11, 2022 to March 26, 2023.
During the reception, Tiffany D. Gaines, the Curatorial and Digital Content Associate at Burchfield Penny Art Center, will discuss LeRoi’s achievements and artistic practice.
Tiffany D. Gaines is a curator, writer, photographer, and multimedia creator. She is interested in highlighting the diverse arts and artists of her community, particularly the stories often excluded from the mainstream canon, through her curatorial work, content creation, and writing. She holds a BA in Journalism from SUNY Buffalo State and is currently pursuing her MA in Visual Studies from the University at Buffalo. As an artist and creative, her photography practice explores themes of healing, rebirth, narrative, history, and legacy. Stemming from her experiences as a Black woman in America, her multidisciplinary practice focuses on the most fundamental elements of the human experience to engage new, diverse perspectives and activate the past in ways that can lead to a more understanding and empathetic future.
There will be light refreshments provided courtesy of the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library.

Faculty and staff in all areas of the college are a vital part of documenting the official record and history of Canisius.
Policy 3.3.19 confirms the need to preserve materials and defines the official record as the original copy of any record created or received in the course of college business. To assist with this, please send copies of your brochures, marketing material, templates (of forms, letters to students, and similar), flyers, reports, meeting minutes, and any other material that fits the above definition to Kathleen DeLaney, college archivist.
Help us tell the story of Canisius to future Griffs and community researchers.
If you have questions about what to send or need assistance, please contact Kathleen DeLaney at delaneyk@canisius.edu or Ext. 8421.
