The Army Reserve Officers Training Corp (ROTC) program at Canisius College will commission 13 cadets as second lieutenants during a ceremony on Friday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. The guest speaker is Brigadier General Michel Natali, Commander of the 53rd Troop Command, New York Army National Guard.

Five students attend Canisius College, six attend the State University of New York at Buffalo, one attends D’Youville College and one attends the State University College at Buffalo. The Canisius students being commissioned are:

 

  • Audrey Browne, a health and wellness major, has been assigned to the Medical Service Corps.  She will attend her Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Sam Houston and will be assigned to Company C (MED), 427th Brigade Support Battalion, Buffalo, NY; New York Army National Guard.
  • Dylan Cory, a health and wellness major, has been assigned to the Infantry. He will attend his Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Benning, GA, with a subsequent assignment to the199th, 11th Infantry Second Battalion, Fort Benning,  GA.
  • Anna DeCosta-Klipa, an animal behavior, ecology and conservation major, has been assigned to the Corp of Engineers.  She will attend a Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.  DeCosta-Klipa’s subsequent assignment will be with Company C, 554th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
  • Tyler Gates, an international relations major, has been assigned to the Infantry. He will attend a Basic Officer Leadership Course at Ft. Benning, GA, with a subsequent assignment to the 199th, 11th Infantry Second Battalion, Fort Benning, GA.
  • Tyler Nixon, a health and wellness major, has been assigned to the Medical Service Corps.  His first assignment is to serve at ROTC Advanced Camp this summer.  He will then attend the Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Sam Houston, TX, with a subsequent assignment to the 3rd FA, 2nd Regiment; Fort Bliss, TX.
