Faculty and staff who are covered under one of the college’s health insurance plans will receive two new tax documents this year- the 1095-B and 1095-C.

The 1095-B was issued by Independent Health and has already gone out to participants. It provides information regarding your health insurance carrier and who was covered under the plan during the year and what months that person was covered.

The 1095-C will be issued by the college. It provides information regarding the college’s plans and meeting the Affordable Care Act of minimum essential value. This form has not been issued yet. The college will be sending these forms before or by the deadline of March 31, 2016.

With respect to filing your taxes, if you are covered under an employer-based plan, then you do not need these forms to file your taxes electronically. Employees may file their 2015 taxes and will not need to complete an amended return. When you receive the additional form from the college, you will want to place it with your personal tax records.
