India-2010-kids-with-TessaCampus Ministry is hosting its annual RAISE Benefit in early March. More than 50 Canisius students will take part in one of the college’s 2016 International Service-Immersion Experiences this summer, journeying to locations around the globe to live out the Jesuit ideals of men and women with and for others. This year’s international service-immersion trips include experiences in Jamaica, El Salvador, Poland and India where Canisius students will work with people who have suffered from war, hunger, neglect, discrimination and poverty.

Students are excited to embark on this transformative experience but they need your help! Student participants are expected to raise funds to cover the cost of their experiences. You can help them meet their goals by:

  • Adopting a Student! This year, faculty and staff have the opportunity to support a specific student, team or service-immersion experience through our Adopt-a-Student program (gifts in support of this program count toward the 2015-16 Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign) and those who make donations of $50 or more will receive a free ticket to our RAISE Benefit dinner. To make a gift and learn more about the students who will directly benefit from your generosity, go here.
  • Submitting a basket or raffle item for our RAISE Benefit by Tuesday, March 1.
  • Purchasing your ticket in advance for our RAISE Benefit dinner scheduled for Thursday, March 10 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center. The night will be complete with food tastings from around the world, a live band and a cash bar. Basket and raffle winners will be chosen. Tickets will be on sale for $20 in the Campus Ministry main office later this month.

We appreciate the support of our Canisius family! Below is a testament from Karl Kozlowski, PhD, associate professor of kinesiology, on why he is participating this year on our annual experience in Poland working with foster children:

“Simply put, there is nothing like working with Canisius students. To me, Canisius is more of a home and a family than a job with acquaintances and the opportunity to experience a service immersion trip with some of our most passionate students is something I couldn’t pass-up. I look forward to mentoring, learning, growing and laughing all while in service with our students this summer in Poland.”
