The ALANA Student Center will be sponsoring a Hip Hop songwriting workshop with Bert & Det. This event will teach students non-cognitive skills of self-awareness, empathy, and verbalizing emotions through hip hop songwriting. This event will cover poetry vs. lyricism, song structure, creative writing, and hip hop as an emotional release. Students will learn how to structure a song, select the right beat, and channel complex emotions and stress through hip hop song writing. This event will conclude with a competition for the best writing 16-bar verse of which the winner will be rewarded a prize of $250. Sign up for the competition here:
