M&T Bank Cybersecurity and PenTest Presentation

Representatives from the Cybersecurity Division at M&T Bank will be on campus Friday, December 6 at 1:00 p.m. in Science Hall 1053 to give a presentation about cybersecurity and network penetration testing (PenTest). The event will follow with a Q&A session.

The event is free and open to faculty and students, and is sponsored by the Computer Science Department.

Supporting Your Scholarship Workshop

The Office of Academic Affairs invites faculty, adjunct faculty and staff to join colleagues at a workshop to help identify ways to support professional scholarship on Thursday, December 19 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

This one day workshop will include a presentation by Jennifer Swan and Holly Grant from the Arts Services Initiative of WNY and presentations by Canisius faculty members and administrators on topics identified as interesting to registered attendees.

If you’re interested in attending, reserve your seat here and provide topics you are interested learning about. The location of the workshop will be determined after registration closes.

Nominations for Distinguished Seniors

The Office of Alumni Engagement presents the Distinguished Senior Award annually to seniors who have distinguished themselves through academic excellence and leadership roles at the college. These awards (up to three) are presented at the Honors Convocation which will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020.

Nominations can be submitted online here.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, January 24, 2020.

Teaching Retreat

Canisius College will host a teaching retreat titled “There is Room: Intentionally Incorporating Race into Course Content” on Wednesday, January 8 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in Loyola Hall.

This day of focus will feature a panel of faculty and students, as well as information on institutional resources that can help build race into courses. Time and quiet, collaborative space will be available throughout the day so that participants can work on ideas. A continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon reception will be provided.

Adjunct Faculty Information Session

The Center for Online Learning & Innovation (COLI) invites all new, returning and current adjunct professors to attend an adjunct faculty information session to help professors prepare to teach during the spring 2019 semester. The session will take place on Thursday, January 2 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Science Hall 1008.

Learn about employee resources, the library, the college mission and technology for teaching and learning. Refreshments will be served.

This is a fantastic way to get up to speed quickly on the essentials for teaching at Canisius College. Adjunct faculty who are teaching at Canisius for the first time this fall can benefit, but returning adjunct instructors are also welcome.
