Women of Canisius Induction Pinning Ceremony

On May 17, the Office of Alumni Engagement and the Women of Canisius Leadership Council held their annual pinning ceremony.

This tradition welcomes female graduates into the alumni affinity group. Alumnae Catherine Niederpruem ’17 spoke about how her life was forever impacted by her Canisius education and the importance of being true to yourself following graduation. Congratulations to the newest inductees!

On Tuesday, May 17 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center all female-identifying members of our Canisius community are invited to attend the annual Women of Canisius pinning ceremony.   All female graduates are welcomed into the Canisius College alumnae community. The ceremony will be followed by a reception with light refreshments. (Please note that all genders are welcome to join us at both the ceremony and the reception.) We encourage our 2022 graduates to invite their mom, sister, grandma, etc., to join us for this special occasion.

Distinguished Seniors and Distinguished Faculty

The Office of Alumni Engagement is proud to announce the 2022 selection for Distinguished Faculty and Distinguished Seniors.

The 2022 Distinguished Faculty recipient is Shawn O’Rourke, PhD, co-chair, Kinesiology. This award is presented to full-time faculty members of the college who are distinguished for contributions to the academic world and teaching excellence.  Congratulations to Dr. O’ Rourke!

The 2022 Distinguished Seniors are:  Jordan Chatelle ’22, Alyssa Deacon ’22, Rosalia Sedano ’22 and Jasmine Thomas ’22.  These awards are presented to seniors who have distinguished themselves through academic excellence and leadership roles at the college.  Congratulations to Jordan, Alyssa, Rosalia, and Jasmine!

Women of Canisius Present: How to Plan, Execute, and Savor Retirement Webinar

All are welcome to join the Women of Canisius Leadership Council on March 24, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. on Zoom as it presents best practices (and learned experiences) on how to be financially, emotionally and psychologically prepared to write your next chapter.

Cynthia Vance, JD, CFP®, ChFC®, AIF® will share the ABCs of early, effective financial planning for retirement. 

Teresa Amabile ’72, HON ’97, PhD, will offer guidance for planning and enjoying retirement, based on seven years of research into the psychological and social aspects of this life-changing transition. 

To round out our program, Cathy Bolz ’85, MBA ’90 provides practical tips on how to savor choices and leverage new contacts and opportunities in your “next chapter.”

Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A session with the panelists, moderated by Maureen Hurley, co-chair of the Women of Canisius Leadership Council.
