Our next big opportunity to shape the Class of 2029 is Saturday at Accepted Students Day, and the momentum is building! We currently have 136 students registered and counting, and of those, 65 have already deposited. Accepted Student Day is a pivotal moment for students still deciding if Canisius is their future home, and your engagement can make all the difference.
This event is more than just a visit — it’s their chance to envision themselves here, feel the energy of our campus, and connect with the people who will shape their college experience. Their interactions with you in sessions, at lunch, or in casual conversations play a crucial part in their decision to enroll.
Applications and deposits update
Freshman applications are at 3,739, up by about 140. Transfer applications are at 276, which is up about 50. Additionally, we are up in readmit applications. Out of our applications, we are at 214 freshman deposits (up 40), 19 transfer deposits, and 3 readmit deposits, brining us to a total of 236 deposits towards our fall 2025 goal!
We are incredibly grateful for your time, enthusiasm, and commitment to making this day an unforgettable experience for our future Griffs. Thank you for bringing your passion into the day. It truly is an all-hands-on-deck effort, and we couldn’t do it without you.
Let’s make this a day that seals the deal!

Do you know students who take pride in Canisius and would be great representatives of our campus? We’re looking for enthusiastic, engaged students to join our Student Ambassador Program!
Student ambassadors play a key role in welcoming prospective students and families, leading campus tours, assisting with admissions events and more. This is a great opportunity for students to develop leadership, public speaking and interpersonal skills while sharing what makes Canisius special. International students are encouraged to apply!
Please help us spread the word and encourage students to apply. Prospective ambassadors can scan the QR code on the attached flyer, visit the MyCanisius portal, or email wavotev@canisius.edu for more details.
Thank you for your support in helping us build a strong team of ambassadors!

Our Admissions team has been hard at work, and their efforts are paying off in incredible ways:
- Spring Enrollment Success: We are thrilled to have welcomed 30 new transfer students to campus this semester! A special shoutout to Jeannette Delaney, whose dedication and attention to detail helped her not only meet her goals but also continue working with students even this week. Additionally, we brought in 15 new freshmen and six readmitted students, a fantastic achievement for our spring enrollment!
- Fall Momentum Building: For fall 2025, we’re seeing promising numbers already. We have received approximately 3,000 applications, with over 2,000 students already accepted. Deposits are steadily coming in, with 78 students officially committed to date! Transfer applications are also trending upward, with 44 students accepted so far, exceeding previous years’ benchmarks at this time.
Our team has an action-packed semester ahead. We’re gearing up for several accepted student events and preparing to hit the road for spring travel to continue engaging with prospective students and families.
Upcoming Accepted Student Events:
- Feb. 16: Tailgate at Men’s Basketball at the Koessler Athletic Center
- Feb. 21: Tailgate at Men’s Hockey at LECOM Harborcenter
- Feb. 25: Rochester Reception at Genesee Valley Club, generously hosted by Tom Smith ’71
- Mar. 29 and April 12: Accepted Students Days
We couldn’t do this without the incredible support of our campus community. Thank you for your continued involvement in the recruitment process. Your enthusiasm and participation mean so much to the students and families you connect with.
Stay tuned for more updates as we build on this momentum throughout the semester!

As we approach the close of the semester and the holiday season, I want to take a moment to share an update on our undergraduate admissions efforts for the incoming freshman and transfer classes.
The excitement is building — we’ve already received 47 freshman deposits up over 17% compared to this time last year! To date, we are also up 110 in total freshman applications (2,400 total) and have received more than 80 transfer applications for fall 2025, with many more expected in the coming weeks.
The months ahead are filled with opportunities to engage with prospective and admitted students. Highlights include two Buffalo Promise Scholarship panel events, a combined alumni and admissions gathering in Tysons, Virginia, two fan tailgates for accepted students at men’s basketball and hockey games, and a variety of weekday and Saturday visit options.
After the holiday break, we’ll direct our efforts to yielding our class with targeted admitted student outreach efforts, inviting faculty to connect directly with students. Details on how to participate will be shared soon.
Thank you all for your dedication and hard work throughout this busy season. Wishing you a restful holiday season filled with joy and warmth!

On behalf of the Office of Admissions, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you for making our recent open house a tremendous success. Your hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment to showcasing the best of our campus truly shone through.
We had 161 students attend, and the positive feedback from our guests was a direct reflection of your efforts and the warm, welcoming atmosphere that you created. It’s moments like these that remind us of the incredible impact we have when we work together.
As we head into the spring, we’ll be busy forming our incoming class through more accepted student events and initiatives. Please save the dates for our two Accepted Student Days on March 29 and April 12. More details will be coming soon.
Thank you again for your dedication and for going above and beyond. I’m grateful for all you do to make our campus a place we’re proud to share with others.
