The Canisius University PA Studies program is pleased to announce that first-year student Victoria Pawlak was recently awarded a scholarship from the New York State Society of Physician Associates (NYSSPA).
Victoria entered the program with an outstanding academic record, earning a 4.0 undergraduate GPA from Nazareth University in biomedical sciences and public health. She has held multiple leadership roles both before and during her time at Canisius and has demonstrated a clear commitment to community health and caring for vulnerable populations. NYSSPA scholarship recipients are selected based on strong academic achievement, a commitment to service, and an understanding of the importance of professional advocacy for PAs in New York State.
Each year, NYSSPA awards up to three scholarships to students across the state’s 33 PA programs, making this a particularly competitive honor. Since its inception, the Canisius PA Studies program has had at least one NYSSPA scholarship recipient from every cohort.
We are incredibly proud of Victoria for earning this recognition and proud to continue a tradition of Canisius PA students being recognized for their academic excellence, service, and commitment to the profession.

As we begin a new academic year, it’s always inspiring to see where our recent graduates are putting their Canisius education to work.
For Jill Galanti ’24 and Alexandra Hackett ’25 (pictured), that means answering a call to serve through careers in law enforcement—where empathy, ethical decision-making and public trust matter more than ever. Read the story here.

The University at Buffalo is offering two AI-related self-paced courses for free:
- Developing AI Literacy
- This course will go over the fundamentals of LLM AI, including the ethics of using AI and maintaining integrity, tips on using AI for work and learning, and prompt engineering.
- If interested, fill out this “workshop book club” form for Developing AI Literacy. The idea is to complete one module each week and then meet up and discuss it once per week (to be determined). We will start this “book club” the week September 14, ending the week of October 19.
- Making Course Content Accessible with AI: Title II Readiness
- This course explores how AI-powered tools like Copilot can assist faculty in improving the accessibility of digital course materials to meet Title II expectations. It provides practical, problem-focused AI prompts to help instructors efficiently generate alt text, improve table formats, and structure documents for better usability.
- We plan on offering a similar “workshop book club”, in Spring 2027, starting the week of February 1, and ending the week of March 8. The sign-up form will be sent out later.
