Canisius baseball player Thomas Zwirecki ’26 was called up to the big leagues last weekend, when Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher and Cy Young winner Paul Skenes asked the Golden Griffin to catch for him at a practice session at the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse. The surreal, behind-the-scenes experience garnered plenty of media attention from local news outlets including WIVB-TV Channel 4 and WKBW-TV Channel 7, as well as Yahoo Sports, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Los Angeles Post.
Julie Anna Golebiewski, PhD, weighed in with The Buffalo News for a January 7 story about the Buffalo Niagara job market taking a turn in the right direction. The associate professor of economics reacted to the November jobs report, which indicated that holiday hiring was strong with more workers at stores and at the warehouses that process online purchases. “Because the market has loosened a little bit in terms of having more people on the sidelines available for work, there was more seasonal hiring this year that there has been in the recent past,” explained Golebiewski. The IRS has released the maximum 2026 contribution limits for 403(b) retirement plans. Contribution limits vary by age. See the details below.
Under age 50: $24,500
Age 50 to 60: $32,500 – This applies to those who will reach age 50 in 2026
Age 60 to 63: $35,750
Ages 64 and up $32,500
Please note that these limits apply only to the Employee contributions.
Changes in contributions must be made online and can be made at any time during the year by logging into your TIAA account.
