Canisius University will welcome bestselling author and The Atlantic staff writer Tom Nichols to campus on Thursday, March 26, 2026, as part of the William H. Fitzpatrick Chair of Political Science Lecture Series. The free, public lecture begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.

Canisius senior forward Grant Porter has been named a nominee for the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award, one of the top honors in NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey. Porter is one of 87 student-athletes from 63 Division I programs selected for Phase I of the national award process. Previously, two Canisius players have been named top-10 finalists for the award: goaltender Charles Williams in 2017 and forward Dylan McLaughlin in 2018.

As part of Canisius University’s Joseph J. Naples Conversations in Christ and Culture Lecture Series, two nationally recognized scholars and authors will visit campus during the spring 2026 semester.
On Wednesday, March 18, with Karen González, will present a lecture titled “The People of Corn and the Wounded Earth: A Decolonial Theology of Land, Migration and Reparations,” and on Tuesday, April 7, Ross Douthat, New York Times opinion columnist and bestselling author, will deliver a lecture titled “Believe: Why Everyone Should Be Religious.”
