It’s coming up to the end of the semester again. Here are some actions you should take by the week after grades are due:
- If you have not already, make sure to contact the Canisius Bookstore to let them know the course materials you are using. The sooner the better.
- Enter your Final Grades through MyCanisius! See this PDF on entering final grades.
- If you want students to see their Final Calculated Grade, check out either the Video Tutorial on Releasing Final Grades or the Calculate and Release Final Grades Wiki Page.
- Export your gradebook to archive the grades for your personal record. See the Video Tutorial to Export a student roster, email list, or grades from D2L.
- Archive your entire D2L course in the Brightspace format at the end of each term for your personal record. Here is a video tutorial to export your D2L course.
- If you are teaching courses in the next semester, copy course content so you do not have to rush through it and have time to work on it in between semesters. Check out the Copying/Importing Course Content Wiki Page.
- Copy your Panopto videos from the previous semester to the upcoming semester.
- If you plan on using student assignments from your class for later review or appraisal, download them now! This will be faster than having to contact Helpdesk and waiting on D2L admins.
- Every semester, following our Jesuit Tradition and Mission in Curriculum, we ask our students to reflect on what they were taught and how they learned. We ask you do the same– reflect on what you learned this semester.
- What worked/went well?
- Course activities, particular modules or units, pedagogical frameworks or techniques, etc.
- What did not work/needs to be changed to work better?
- This process will help in two ways:
- First, by giving us notes to refer to for when we start working on the course for next we teach it.
- Second, we can use this as a “reminder” for our self-appraisals.
You can click here to view the COLI Checklist page, which has further resources. View this video for a quick overview of the End of Semester Checklist.

Over the holiday weekend why not clean out your garage, closets and basements for any gently used sports gear so ALL kids can play sports!
