The Counseling Center is offering Suicide Prevention Training for the Canisius community on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 3-4:30 p.m. in Old Main 200.
QPR, the “CPR for suicide prevention,” stands for
- Question the person about suicide.
- Persuade the person at risk to get help.
- Refer the person to resources.
QPR is designed to increase your ability to recognize suicidal thoughts and behaviors and refer a person at risk to resources.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend this training. The more people we have trained in suicide prevention, the wider our safety net to keep people safe. Anyone who has participated in this training in the past is encouraged to take it again to refresh your skills.
