The Buffalo News editorial board commended Canisius University “for reaching a notable milestone amid turbulent financial times for higher education.” In its August 29 opinion piece, the board reported on the university reducing its deficit by almost 75% from four years ago, to approximately $3.5 million this year. “It’s quite an achievement for Canisius President Steve Stoute – one that quite a few struggling colleges and universities would be grateful to emulate,” wrote the editorial board.
