Canisius in the News

WBEN-AM Radio 930 reported on two recent news stories at Canisius including the August 8 naming of the Golisano Center for Student Success, which recognizes Rochester philanthropist B. Thomas Golisano and his $5 million gift to Canisius. WBEN also reported on Canisius being named one of the best universities for transfer students by the Phi Kappa Honor Society, on August 12.

WGRZ-TV Channel 2 shared the August 13 news that the university is launching a new Sport Data Analytics program. The fully online, 12-credt advanced certificate launches this fall.

Rebecca Krawiec, PhD, chair of religious studies and theology, was interviewed on the August 14 podcast “Women Who Went Before.” Krawiec spoke about Christian women – from late antiquity who sought to transform their bodies inside and out: ascetics and monastics. Women’s Business Center Open House Sept 4th

Did you know that Canisius is home to the Women’s Business Center (WBC), which supported over 330 entrepreneurs and small business owners in Erie County from 2024–2025?
If this is news to you, here’s your chance to learn more! The WBC is hosting an Open House on Wednesday, September 4th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Science Hall Commons to give the Canisius community, and anyone interested in small business, the opportunity to pop in and explore our programs and resources.
You’ll learn more about what the WBC offers from our Cohorts, to our resource partners, and future programs and events. You’ll be able to meet the WBC staff, Cohort Facilitators, connect with local entrepreneurs and small business owners, and enjoy light snacks while networking.
Whether you own a business, dream of starting one, or simply want to see what we’re all about, we welcome you to stop by. We also encourage spreading the word to anyone you know of who owns a small business or is thinking of starting one.
No registration is needed if you’re just visiting, but if you’re ready to take advantage of our services, we would appreciate if you sign up using the link below.
Any questions email the WBC at wbcinfo@canisius.edu
