The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Canisius University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Canisius University. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards.
Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be July 2035. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.

Canisius University President Steve Stoute appeared the July 21 episode of “Trustees + Presidents: Managing College Athletics,” a podcast for university leaders on college athletics. President Stoute spoke about the financial challenges faced by non-power conference institutions, the impact of NIL on recruitment, and the importance of supporting women’s athletics. President Stoute also spoke about the university’s strategic decision to ‘opt in’ to the NCAA’s new rules that allow schools to pay student-athletes – a move necessary to remain competitive with other MAAC and Atlantic Hockey America institutions in recruiting and retaining talent. To support this new financial commitment, Canisius University recently established the Blue & Gold Excellence Fund as a fundraising initiative to support men’s and women’s basketball and hockey programs.
The Buffalo News, Western New York Catholic and WBEN-AM Radio all reported on the university’s comprehensive fundraising initiatives, which raised $14.3 million from alumni, family and friends during the 2024-25 year. The success of the annual campaign reflects the sustained commitment and support from the university community as the institution advances its strategic priorities. The Buffalo News highlighted Canisius’ Buffalo Promise Scholarship program, which exceeded expectations in its inaugural year. The scholarship, launched in October 2024, covers 100% of undergraduate tuition for up to four years for eligible students from the 142- ZIP codes who have household adjusted gross incomes of $125,000 or less. The university received more than 1,000 applications in the pilot year of the program, surpassing expectations by more than 200. Canisius also saw a 32% increase in applicants from the 142 ZIP code area compared to fall 2024, demonstrating the scholarship’s impact on expanding access to higher education for local families.
