Emerita Communications Professor Barb Irwin, PhD, is quoted in the latest edition of Smithsonian Magazine for an article about the beloved children’s television show “Reading Rainbow.” Irwin recently co-authored a book about the show’s development titled “Creating Reading Rainbow: The Untold Story of a Beloved Children’s Series.” She worked as an intern in WNED-TV’s Educational Services Department during the show’s creation and later managed community outreach and production of the book review segments filmed in Buffalo during the program’s early years.
