In D2L, on Dropboxes and Discussion, we can set how the Start Date and End Date behave as far as how much of the activity students can view at what time.
There are three options:
Visible with access restricted: This is the default option (tutorial below on how to change the default). Students can see the title of the Dropbox or Discussion and Start, End, and Due dates. However, they cannot access it nor see the directions/prompt nor submit until the specified Start Date. If this option is on the End Date, students will lose access to the activity after the End Date.
Visible with submission restricted: Students can see everything that Visible with access restricted allowed. They can also see the directions/prompt. However, Students will not be able to submit until the Start Date. If this is on the End Date, students will lose the ability to submit after the End Date.
Hidden: Hidden hides the activity completely from students until the specified Start Date. If this option is on the End Date, it will completely hide the activity after the End Date from students.

ArtsCanisius is excited to announce that Buffalo Silver Band is returning to campus at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 26 in the Montante Cultural Center.
Celebrating its 110th year, the Buffalo Silver Band is “looking back with gratitude and forward with optimistic anticipation.” A vibrant evening of feel-good entertainment is in store with the music of Beethoven, Chick Corea and George Gershwin with some Jerome Kern and Vienna Teng along for some added pizzaz. In addition to it being the Buffalo Silver Band’s 110th year, it is also the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s “Hymn of Joy,” the uplifting theme from his Ninth Symphony, according to the band’s write-up about this concert.
These concerts are always Free Will Offerings (aka pay as you wish). For additional information about this or any other ArtsCanisius event, kindly Email Yvonne Widenor, director of ArtsCanisius, at widenory@canisius.edu.

To ensure smooth parking for all Canisius guests, we have established a streamlined process for requesting guest/visitor parking permits.
Step 1: Submit a Parking Pass Request
Eligibility: Email parking request to the designated office administrator for your vice president- (Academic Affairs, Athletics, Business/Finance, Enrollment, Advancement, Student Affairs, or the President’s Office). Please make sure to include date(s) needed, how many vehicles, and where they will be on campus.
Deadline: Requests must be submitted at least 24 hours prior to the guest’s arrival to ensure processing.
Step 2: Approval and Permit Issuance
Once submitted, your request will be reviewed by the parking management team. Once approved, the requestor will receive an Email with a link to forward to your visitor/guest. The link will prompt visitors to create a Guest Login and enter their vehicle information.
Each time a guest comes to campus, a new link will need to be requested, but guest login credentials remain the same.
Expiration: All permits are valid for the requested time period and specific assigned lots. If additional time is needed, a new request must be submitted.
Step 3: Enforcement
Please note that a virtual parking permit entitles the registrant to park only if there is available space in the parking lot for which the permit is valid.
Any vehicle without an approved request in the system will be subject to citation or towing at the vehicle owner’s expense.
Appeals
If an individual feels that they may have been issued a ticket in error or there are extenuating circumstances, they can appeal the ticket.
Appeals must be submitted within 15 days of the issuance of a citation. All appeals must be submitted online at www.parking.canisius.edu
Important Notes:
Parking permits are required to park in any campus lot
Overnight parking is ONLY allowed in residential lots
Relaxed parking on weekdays after 4:30 p.m., weekends and holidays in Employee General/Commuter/Employee Reserved lots

ABEC and Anthrozoology Professor Malini Suchak, PhD, weighed in with the online magazine Mind Matters about whether animals take revenge. In the article, Suchak suggests her research indicates that animals engage in reciprocity, “which we usually think of as ‘you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” and is different than revenge which … “has a component of moral justification.” Click here to read the article.
