Canisius University has risen to the top of Western New York’s higher education landscape, securing the title of “Best Local University” in The Buffalo News’ annual “Best of 716” contest.
The community-driven initiative invites residents to nominate and vote for their favorite institutions, organizations and businesses. Canisius’ recognition as “Best Local University” highlights its standing as a premier, private higher education institution and emphasizes the school’s impact on students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends.
The “Best of 716” selection process involved public nominations and voting. Canisius competed against 14 schools nominated in the category for “Best Local University.” After garnering strong community support in the initial round, Canisius advanced to become a top 5 finalist, alongside the State University of New York at Fredonia, the University at Buffalo, Buffalo State University and Niagara University.
