Representatives from Honeywell Inc. recently visited Canisius to present Dr. Sheridan and Krit Marohn with a check for $10,000 to sponsor the Chemistry Olympiad.

The funds will be used to offset costs associated with students’ preparation and participation in the Western New York Chapter of the International Chemistry Olympiad. The Chemistry Olympiad is a local, national, and international competition designed to stimulate and promote achievement in high school chemistry. It is sponsored nationally by the American Chemical Society and hosted locally by Canisius University. Honeywell’s Buffalo Research Lab has supported the Western New York Chapter of the International Chemistry Olympiad for more than 20 years and has donated more than $250,000 in support of this initiative since 2002.

Prospective Students Eligible for “Visit and Apply” Grant

Canisius University is introducing a new initiative aimed at supporting prospective students.  The Visit and Apply grant offers freshman students, who are planning to enter college in fall 2025, the opportunity to receive $1,000 each year, up to four years, when they visit the university and complete the application process.

To be eligible, prospective students must first participate in an official admissions visit to Canisius University.  Qualifying visits include a campus tour, a counselor interview and tour, or participation in an on-campus admissions event.  Prospective students must then submit a formal application via the Canisius Application or Common App by December 1, 2024.

Canisius has offered a similar Visit and Apply grant to transfer students for the past two years and is continuing the initiative for those who apply for spring 2025 or fall 2025 admission.
