Canisius University is the recipient of a $300,000 grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation. The grant will be directed to the Physician Assistant (PA) Studies program and support the program’s goal to boost diversity in the allied health workforce across Western New York by providing scholarships to students from diverse backgrounds who pursue PA graduate degrees at Canisius.

“As we look back at the compounding crises of the last few years, the health-related needs of vulnerable communities have only grown,” says Msgr. Gregory Mustaciuolo, chief executive officer of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation.  “Canisius University has demonstrated tremendous resilience, creativity and dedication to serving those in need, especially as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to have such detrimental impact.”

This is the fourth grant awarded to the PA Studies program from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation in recent years, for a total of nearly $1.7 million.  Canisius welcomed its first cohort of 30 students to the PA program in January 2021.
