Canisius College saluted two alumni on Veterans Day last Friday, November 11. James McNicholas ’65, MS ’97 and Dan Starr ’58 received “Hero Boxes” from Senior Wishes, a local organization that grants life-enhancing wishes to local senior citizens.
Jonathan Lawrence organized the brief ceremony and Canisius President Steve Stoute attended to personally recognize McNicholas and Starr for their service to the country. Members of the Canisius chorale also performed.
The Office of Event Services is pleased to welcome Gil Jacobs as its the new assistant director.
Gil joins us from NCCC where he served as the theatre’s technical director, as well as an adjunct professor for Avid Protools for film production and Veraview, an audio-visual technological company. He has many years of experience in audio engineering, lighting and event production.
Gil has a bachelor of science degree in music industry and two master of arts degrees: one in sound design and the other in music scoring and composition both for visual media.
Education students in EDY 209 have field placements at ECC #54, near our Canisius campus. They create and facilitate play centers for pre-K students that demonstrate their knowledge of early childhood development. These play centers provide lots of enjoyment and many opportunities to improve children’s language and math skills. They also provide fine and gross motor activities as well as practice with social and emotional skills.
Joanna Fiorella and Erin Tzetzo designed this bakery which was a huge success!
