Nominate a co-worker for a job well done for the month of November by completing the Employee of Distinction nomination form here. Please have all submissions completed no later than the end of the day on Monday, November 21.
The Employee of Distinction program provides an excellent opportunity to show appreciation and support for co-workers and to reward them for all they do. The application will request an explanation as to why a candidate is worthy of the award. A list of factors to consider when submitting a nomination include the nominee’s history of accomplishments, level of determination, motivation and interpersonal skills.
The information provided in the application will be used to make a fair and objective selection. Upon supervisor approval, the Employee Engagement Team reviews all nominations and votes each month.
Once a decision is made for November, the Employee of Distinction will be featured in The Dome. Contact the Human Resources Department at Ext. 2240 or Bethany in the President’s Office at Ext. 2100 with any questions.

In November, Academic Affairs is hosting two lunch events for faculty. We will discuss some new resources for teaching, but mostly, this is an opportunity for faculty to come together for a meal on campus. We will provide lunch, but participants can bring their own as well.
Syllabus Refresh! New Resources for Syllabi Construction
Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022 at Noon, in the Old Main Faculty/Staff Lounge
Many faculty have been teaching tried-and-true courses for years, while others are developing new courses for next semester. In either case, it’s a good idea to visit the Inclusive Syllabus developed by faculty and staff as part of inclusive teaching faculty development over the past 2 ½ years. This syllabus is a template containing all relevant information above your course, department or discipline-specific content, to help students feel welcome in your class and succeed academically. You can copy any and all language from the syllabus, or use it as a template for building a new syllabus for your course. In this Lunch Update, Dr. Jenn Lodi-Smith describes the important features of this syllabus, and answers additional questions on syllabus construction and resources available to faculty and students.
Lunch Update: Easy Course Video
Tuesday, November 29th, 2022 at Noon, in the Old Main Faculty/Staff Lounge
With Panopto, D2L now has a simple but effective toolset for recording and sharing video with (and between) students. No more hassle with Google Drive or YouTube! In this Lunch Update, COLI staff will quickly demonstrate Panopto (it doesn’t take long!) and answer any questions about it and video for academics, generally.
Please RSVP for either or both events on our Faculty Development Event page!
