The Buffalo News interviewed Joseph F. Bieron, PhD, professor emeritus of chemistry and Mariusz M. Kozik, PhD, professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Canisius, about the late Rev. Paul J. McCarthy, SJ, who passed away on January 18.  The interview details the impact Father McCarthy made while in the department and the Canisius community.

Presidential Candidate on Campus Today

Just a reminder that the third finalist for the president’s position is on campus for interviews today, Wednesday, February 9. Please visit MyCanisius Portal at https://my.canisius.edu/group/mycampus/presidential-search to access the cover letters, curriculum vitae and evaluation forms for all three candidates.

All members of our community will be able to hear from our candidates about their interest and vision for the position and to ask them questions at an open forum in the Montante Cultural Center at 3:00 PM.  The session will also be livestreamed through Zoom:

Giving Day ’22

With Giving Day just over two months away, we want to provide you with some important information and next steps for programs that are fundraising on April 6!

We will be hosting a training session on Wednesday, February 16 at 2:30 p.m. via Zoom.

To register, please Email givingday@canisius.edu. The Zoom link will be shared with those who have registered on February 15.

As in previous years, each program, team, etc. will have its own individual campaign page. Copy for your support area’s page is due no later than Monday, March 7. Email your content to givingday@canisius.edu.

Below is an outline of how to best organize the content you send over:

  • Brief description of your program, team, etc. (3-4 sentences)
  • How will gifts raised be used? (1-2 examples)
  • What did last year’s gifts support? (1-2 examples)
  • Share a student or alumni success story or a brief testimonial.
  • Post links to your program’s social media channels (if you have them).
  • Share pictures and/or videos!

Hospice Spring Bouquet Reminder

The Student Records & Financial Services Center has teamed up with Hospice Buffalo to take orders for the organization’s 36th annual Hospice Spring Bouquet Sale.  This year, you can purchase a gorgeous mixed bouquet for $12 or a tribute bouquet for $35. (For every tribute bouquet purchased, a $12 bouquet will be sent to brighten the day of a current Hospice patient.).  In addition, to celebrate the 36th year of the bouquet sale, Hospice is giving away 36 prizes for 36 years. Each tribute bouquet will receive a scratch off card for the opportunity to be one of our lucky winners! All proceeds from the Spring Bouquet Sale benefit Hospice Buffalo’s patients and their families.

Orders with payment are due no later than Friday, February 11. Cash and checks are accepted. Checks can be made out to Hospice Buffalo. You can also venmo to Allaina @Allaina-Rosemarie.
