Recruiting Tutors for Spring Semester

The Tutoring Center is currently recruiting tutors for the spring semester. Please feel free to share this flyer with students you think would be interested. You can also refer them to me at mcfoym@canisius.edu and I can reach out to students directly to encourage them to apply. We are especially looking for math tutors. Thanks so much for your help!

Donations to Canisius

We have always been aware of how fortunate Canisius is to have loyal donors.  In order to ensure continued support,  and so our donors are able to claim the benefits of their gift on their 2021 taxes,  please forward any donations  that may have been received by your department to Advancement Services GM203 attention:  Katie Huck.

All gifts to the college must be recorded in Banner so that a proper tax receipt may be issued by December 31, 2021.  If you have any questions please call Katie Huck at Ext. 8211 or Email huckk@canisius.edu.

Thank you and happy holidays!

Campus Candids

The Griff Center for Student Success hosted a Sophomore Surprise on Thursday, December 9, to celebrate the end of the fall semester with Paula’s donuts and plenty of giveaways. The Class of 2024 has had a unique and challenging start to their collegiate career due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is important for the college community to recognize their continued determination in pursuit of their academic goals.

Women’s Basketball Begins Guest Coach Program

Mark Harrington, EdD, assistant vice president for student development and academic success/HESAA program director/assistant professor of education and leadership, was invited by Canisius’ Women’s Basketball (WBB) Head Coach Sahar Nusseibeh and the WBB team to be the first guest coach for the Griffs game against Youngstown State on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. The purpose of the program is to see the student-athlete game day experience. From watching film, practice, shoot arounds, warms-ups, stretches, pre-game meal, and sitting on the bench, guest coaches get an insight on the day in the life of a student-athlete and Division I basketball coach.

Harrington had this to say about his experience, “I truly enjoyed my day with the WBB team and coaching staff. While day-to-day I am more involved in their academic success and services, it was insightful to see and be a part of game-day routine. Our new WBB Coach Sahar is dynamic, positive, and brings tons of energy! We are lucky to have her passionate leadership for this program and she’s built an incredible team culture after only a few months! She has hired two outstanding assistant coaches Coach Jared and Coach Krista who are equally outstanding. I encourage you to come down to the KAC, meet the coaching staff, and cheer them on in the stands this season. Go Griffs!”
