In case you missed the excitement…

Trucks, trailers, catering tents and more than 100 cast and crew members arrived on campus last Thursday and Friday to prepare and film a scene for the upcoming movie “Cabrini.”  We can’t wait to see how the Lyons Hall lobby was transformed into a NYC location from 1892!

“Cabrini” tells the story of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian American Roman Catholic nun and social activist who immigrated to New York City from Italy in the 1890s and advocated for the civil and human rights of women and immigrants. She became a saint in 1946.

The movie is produced by award-winning “Marshall” producer Jonathan Sanger, directed by Alejandro Monteverde and stars Christiana Dell’Anna, John Lithgow and David Morse. After Buffalo, filming concludes in Rome, Italy, with “Cabrini” set to be released in late 2022 or 2023. There were more ‘lights, cameras and action’ on Monday, August 16 when a crew from Curiosity Stream visited campus to interview H. David Sheets, PhD. The award-winning streaming service spoke with Sheets for an upcoming feature series on forensic science and advancements in the field.

Sheets is a professor of physics and director of the data analytics program at Canisius.

Curiosity Stream was founded by John Hendricks, who is also the founder of Discovery Inc. and the Discovery Channel. The streaming service produces and broadcasts documentaries and features that cover every topic from space exploration to the secret life of pets.
