Join the Institute for Classical and Medieval Studies (ICMS) on Tuesday, May 4 for the final event of the 2020-21 semester. Between 11:50 – 12:50 p.m., Thomas Banchich, PhD, professor emeritus of classics, will discuss the Legacies of Hellenistic Paideia.
Paideia is the ancient Greek curriculum for educating the ideal citizen. The training involved combining mental education, such as rhetoric, grammar, philosophy, mathematics and geography, with an education in the arts and physical exercise to produce an enlightened and complete individual.
