Tour guides with the college’s admissions team spent last Saturday getting ready to welcome #FutureGriffs to campus for an in-person Accepted Students Day, taking place this weekend, March 27 and 28. The tour guides will also host a second in-person Accepted Students Day on April 17 and 18.

Canisius in the News

Wilma Abeles Iggers, professor emerita of modern languages, celebrated her 100th birthday this past Tuesday.

According to The Buffalo News Reporter’s Notebook, Iggers celebrated with the publication of a memoir, “A Vanished Way of Life: A Jewish Childhood in the Bohemian Countryside.” She and her family fled to Canada from Czechoslavakia in 1938 to escape the Nazis. Iggers was awarded the Gratias Agit Award by the Czech Foreign Ministry for her passionate writing about her homeland and promoting the Czech Republic.

Easter Holiday Updates

The college will close on Thursday, April 1 at 3:00 p.m. All but essential operating personnel are included in this early closure. The college will be closed on Friday, April 2 and will reopen on Monday, April 5.

Schedule a Free Rapid Covid-19 Test Before Traveling

Traveling this spring? Schedule an appointment to get a free rapid Covid test. This is open to all students.

Appointments are available in Science Hall on Wednesday, March 31 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 1 from 10:00a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Schedule a time via MyCanisiusHealth. You must have an appointment in order to receive a test.

Use the Science Hall entrance by the Griff statue to arrive for your test. Do not come for testing if you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19. Instead, stay home, call Student Health or your doctor for guidance.

Athletics Present Golden Virtual Spring 5K

The Canisius Athletic Department, in conjunction with Van Wagner and elitefeats.com, are proud to present the Golden Virtual Spring 5K Run/Walk, presented by Independent Health.

From April 17-25, participants can complete the race all at once or spread the distance out through the nine-day challenge. Registered participants are encouraged to download any fitness tracking app and share photos, video and screen shots of your time using the #GoldenVirtual5K on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook to engage in friendly competition.
