Please join us for Adjunct Professor Denise Prince’s lecture next month, titled “Prehistoric Cave Art: Dawn of Humanity.” This lecture is part of the ArtsCanisius Meet the Faculty series.

The presentation focuses on the mysterious prehistoric cave art of Europe, some of which dates back over 30,000 years. Learn about the history of three important cave art discoveries, including the Chauvet Cave. 

Since the beginning of archaeology in the 19th century, a variety of theories have been proposed regarding the elusive meaning of the art. The talk will conclude with possible explanations for the enigmatic images from the dawn of humanity.
