Nominations are now being accepted for the 2021 I. Joan Lorch Award for Women & Gender Studies.

This award honors “a person who has made a significant contribution to women, and who exemplifies the pursuit of liberation and justice regarding sex, gender, and sexuality.”

This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will only be accepting nominations in the student category — any current undergraduate or graduate student at Canisius College.

The deadline for nominations is February 18, 2021. Nominations should be submitted to both Email addresses listed below.  All nominations should also include a 200-300 word justification for why the student is a deserving recipient of the I. Joan Lorch award.

The Women & Gender Studies Advisory Board will host a Zoom happy hour (bring your own beverage!) to celebrate this year’s student winner along with last year’s winners in all three categories.  We expect this happy hour to take place during the month of March, Women’s History Month, so keep your eyes open for that announcement.

Nominations should be sent to:  Professor of Philosophy Tanya Loughead, PhD, at tanya.loughead@canisius.edu and Adjunct Professor of English Johanna Fisher at fisherj@canisius.edu.
