Join Academic Affairs for a virtual discussion, titled “Microaggressions in the Classroom: Recognize, Pause and Disrupt.” The event will take place Thursday, October 22 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Click here to RSVP for this event.
The faculty discussion will be led by Andrew Case, clinical assistant professor, PA studies & didactic education; Devonya Havis, PhD, associate professor of philosophy; and Malini C. Suchak, PhD, associate professor of ABEC.
It is often difficult to know what to do and how to respond when microaggressions occur, especially in the presence of others. Microaggressions can impact a faculty member’s ability to teach, a student’s ability to learn and lead one to question his/her sense of belonging.
This faculty-led discussion is geared toward instructors who are seeking advice on how to handle microaggressions, while using these classroom experiences as teachable moments.
