Those who use Zoom for web conferencing, meetings and courses frequently make recordings of their online sessions. Canisius’ Zoom license has a limit to total online storage available for all users. Periodically, the Zoom administrators at Canisius must delete old videos within the Zoom account. In most cases, videos still stored in Zoom accounts are no longer in use or haven’t been viewed recently.

After Friday, October 23, videos stored within Zoom recorded before Thursday, September 24, 2020 will be deleted.  Additionally, videos recorded on or after September 24 will automatically be deleted thirty days after recording.

If you have videos stored in Zoom that you continue to use in coursework or administrative work, please download and transfer them to your Canisius Google Drive (or other storage) by Friday, October 23, 2020. Also, bear in mind that after that date, each Zoom video you record to the Zoom cloud has a thirty-day lifespan in Zoom’s cloud. Download the video to save or use it longer than thirty days.

If Zoom usage surges, COLI and ITS may need to review this policy and shorten the time when Zoom Cloud-based videos are available.  We will provide prior warning if policy changes but it is best to download Zoom-based videos promptly to avoid any loss.

If you are unfamiliar with Zoom’s cloud recording feature and how to find or download your recordings, see our tutorial.
