Cultural Times Bulletin

The Cultural Times Bulletin is a newsletter that was started by Sababu Norris, who recently retired from his role as director of the ALANA Student Center after 31 years of service.

During Norris’ transition to retirement, the Cultural Times Bulletin was discontinued. In an effort to honor the legacy of Norris and to keep the campus and local community aware of what is happening in the ALANA Student Center and on campus, the ALANA Student Center is pleased to present the new Cultural Times Bulletin. With a new look and feel, the Cultural Times Bulletin will provide you with important updates and recaps of various events and initiatives from the college regarding cultural engagement and support.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the ALANA Student Center at asc@canisius.edu.

Finding your Zoom Recordings

Recording meetings on Zoom can be very beneficial. If a student is unable to make it to a class or a hybrid course is taught, the lecture only needs to be recorded once and posted to D2L.

Zoom makes it easy to record and online lecture for online classes without the issues and hassle that other screen-recording software comes with. It is also beneficial if a transcript for the recording is needed (which is only available when saving to the Zoom cloud).

Sometimes it is difficult to know where Zoom is recording and saving video files. Watch the following YouTube video to see where Zoom records these videos and how to access them, including when to use the different recording options and other tips.

WNY Teacher Residents Fill Little Libraries

There are hundreds of Little Free Libraries in Buffalo, where children can borrow books. With so many children learning through virtual instruction, the WNY Teacher Residency Program

saw a need to fill Little Free Libraries across Buffalo in order to provide a variety of books to children.

Residents spent the evening sorting book bundles and devising a plan to distribute children’s books to different neighborhoods within the city and north of Buffalo. WNY teacher residents will continue to fill the Little Free Libraries.
