U.S. News & World Report is affirming what we here already knew – that Canisius is the No. 1 best value among colleges and universities in New York State.

The news comes out today, following the publication’s release of its 2021 rankings of Best Colleges and Universities. That same Best Value ranking has Canisius at No 3 among all 73 regional colleges and universities in the North. That’s up two spots from No. 5 last year.

The Best Value college and university ranking takes into account a school’s academic quality (based on U.S. News’ Best Colleges ranking, see below) and the net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid.  The higher the quality and the lower the cost of the program, the better the deal.  The average discounted cost of a Canisius education is $24,989, which represents an approximate 42 percent discount from the total cost of tuition.  Sixty-nine percent of Canisius students receive need-based aid.

But wait … there’s more:

In addition to being the No. 1 Best Value in New York State, U.S. News & World Report  placed Canisius at No. 19 on its list of Best Regional Universities in the North and No. 9 on its list of Best Colleges for Veterans in the North.
