FR. Jack Mattimore.jpgCanisius College is pleased to welcome Rev. Jack Mattimore, SJ, back to our community. Father Jack works with Campus Ministry and the New Buffalo Institute.  He serves as a Campus Minister for liturgy and sacraments and helps coordinate local community service outreach for both Campus Ministry and the New Buffalo Institute. He hopes to deepen an understanding of our Jesuit mission across the campus and into the community. He will also serve as a chaplain for some of our athletic teams. In addition, Father Jack fills in as the weekend assistant at St. Mary’s Church in Swormville. Most recently, he worked as a chaplain for the Department of Corrections at Rikers Island in New York City and as director of spiritual care at the Thrive for Life Prison Project.

A native of Western New York, he attended Canisius High School and then joined the Jesuit order. Father Mattimore holds master’s degrees in divinity and theology from Regis College, University of Toronto as well as a master’s degree of English education from Teachers College at Columbia University. In his previous work in Western New York, he served as chaplain to St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy, the Federal Detention Center in Batavia and Roswell Park Cancer Institute.  Father Jack has extensive experience as a teacher and administrator of Jesuit secondary schools in Baltimore, Batavia, Buffalo, Micronesia and New York City.

He started working  at Canisius in January and his office is located in Old Main 207. Please stop by and offer him a warm welcome.
