The Canisius Physical and Health Education/Teacher Education (P/HETE) program hosted students from Stanley Makowski Buffalo Public School (BPS) No. 99 on Tuesday, March 3 at the Koessler Athletic Center.  Teacher candidates from Dr. Clancy Seymour’s Assessment in PE (PED 371/PEG 571) course collaborated with Tony Lafornara ᾽88 and Ashley Caputa MS ’07, MS’10, to assess fourth grade student fitness levels using several different methods. With more than 100 students in attendance, the experience was enjoyable for fourth graders and allowed P/HETE majors to conduct research while cultivating local BPS partnerships. In addition, teacher candidates are provided the opportunity to analyze pre- and post-test data and administer fitness assessments in an authentic environment.
