On February 5, 2020, Dr. Michael Wood spoke at the Correlations in Partonic and Hadronic Interactions conference at CERN, the European Center for Nuclear Research. His talk was on experiments to study how subatomic particles are created from free quarks. After his talk, Dr. Wood and Petey visited the exhibit “Universe of Particles” on the main CERN campus. The exhibit describes the many achievements of CERN over the past 60 years such as the discovery of the W, Z and Higgs boson.
Petey also got to visit the Compass Experiment. This experiment uses a muon beam to probe the interior structure of the proton. Below is a picture of Petey next to the muon beam line.
