Supporting Your Scholarship Workshop

Interested participants have until Friday, December 13 to reserve a seat for the upcoming Support Your Scholarship Workshop.  Hosted by the Office of Academic Affairs, the workshop is open to faculty, adjunct faculty and staff to help identify ways to support professional scholarship.  The workshop is set for Thursday, December 19 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.  The location of the workshop will be determined after registration closes.

This one day workshop will include a presentation by Jennifer Swan and Holly Grant from the Arts Services Initiative of WNY, as well as presentations by Canisius faculty members and administrators on topics identified as interesting to registered attendees.

Teaching Retreat

Reserve your seat by Friday, December 13 to participate in the college’s upcoming teaching retreat, titled “There is Room: Intentionally Incorporating Race into Course Content,” scheduled for Wednesday, January 8 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in Loyola Hall.

This day of focus will feature a panel of faculty and students, as well as information on institutional resources that can help build race into courses. Time and quiet, collaborative space will be available throughout the day so that participants can work on ideas. A continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon reception will be provided.

January Writing Retreat

The Office of Academic Affairs and the Writing Center will co-host a day-long writing retreat for faculty on Tuesday, January 7 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the new writing center space in the library.

The goal of the retreat will be for faculty to work on their own research or projects with others doing the same. Time will be spent talking about projects and setting achievable goals for the day but the majority of the time will be spent simply working. Lunch will be provided for participants.
