Bishop Edward Scharfenberger attended the Movement to Restore Trust’s symposium at the Montante Cultural Center on Saturday, December 7, 2019.  This was Bishop Scharfenberger’s first public appearance since being appointed interim apostolic administrator for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo after the resignation of Bishop Richard Malone.

Sessions at the symposium included a communal discernment of the qualities desired in the next bishop of Buffalo, the results of which will be shared with the Apostolic Nuncio in Washington D.C., who will have a critical role in the selection of the next bishop.  It also included a discussion of what will likely happen should the Diocese of Buffalo file for bankruptcy.
