The Canisius College accounting program maintained its stronghold in New York State following results from the 2018 Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam. 

Alumni of Canisius’ undergraduate accounting program, who sat for the CPA exam for the first time within one year of graduation, earned the highest overall pass rate on the exam in New York State, ranking first (1st) overall.Canisius candidates also ranked first (1st)in New York State on the regulation/tax portion of the 2018 CPA exam; first (1st) on the audit portion of the exam and second (2nd) in New York State on the financial reporting section of the exam. Nationally, Canisius participants scored in the top four percent (4%), overall, among first-time test takers of the 2018 CPA exam. 

The 2018 exam results are the most recent to be published by the National Association of the State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and reaffirm the 2020 ranking by U.S. News & World Report, which placed Canisius’ BS in accounting program among the top six percent (6%) nationally.
