Teaching Kitchen: Apple Caramel Mug Cakes

Jennifer J. DiFrancesco, culinary specialist at The Humane Society of the United States, will host the Chartwells Teaching Kitchen on Tuesday, October 29 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Economou Dining Hall. Learn how to make salted caramel apple mug cakes that can be made in minutes.

Chili Cook-Off Cancelled

Due to a lack of chef sign-ups for the United Way Chili Cook-Off this year, the event is cancelled.

Although this event has been cancelled, the 2019 United Way Campaign will continue to accept donations through Friday, November 22. This includes a basket raffle each Monday as a special bonus to our United Way donors. When you make a donation to the United Way, your name will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a gift basket.

To make your pledge, you may take the following steps:

  2. Click [Forgot User ID or Password?]
  3. Enter Work Email
  4. Enter Verification Code
  5. Click [Email My Information]
  6. Check your Work Email inbox for an email from donotreply@uwbec.org
  7. Click the reset password e-Pledge link in the email (will expire within 24 hours)
  8. Create a new password and click [Save]
  9. Click the [Continue] button

Faculty-Staff Tickets Available for Men’s Hockey

Complimentary tickets for faculty and staff members are now available for the men’s hockey game versus Robert Morris University on Friday, November 8. Stop by the Human Resources Office to receive your complimentary tickets.

Note: Bring your Canisius ID. Each Canisius employee is allowed to receive up to four complimentary tickets.

Fire Drills

Campus-wide fire drills will be held on Friday, October 25 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The participating buildings include:

  • Bouwhuis Library
  • Churchill Tower
  • Old Main
  • Bagen Hall
  • Horan O’Donnell
  • Richard E. Winter Student Center
  • Palisano Pavillion
  • Christ the King Chapel
  • Loyola Hall
  • Science Hall
  • Health Science
  • Koessler Athletic Center
  • Lyons Hall
  • Montante Cultural Center
  • Martin House

Regulations forbid announcing the exact times. Generally, a drill lasts no more than six to seven minutes. When the alarm sounds, please leave the building by the nearest exit as shown on the posted emergency exit routes. One person may remain in each office or suite to answer phones. Elevators may not be used.

Say Yes Buffalo Happy Hour

Join the Buffalo Niagara Partnership for its final 2019 BN360 Happy Hour for a Cause on Wednesday, November 6 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Resurgence Brewing Company (55 Chicago Street). The event, which supports Say Yes Buffalo, is sponsored by D’Youville College.

The happy hour is open to anyone. Friends, family and coworkers are all welcome. Proceeds will go directly to Say Yes Buffalo.

The mission of the Say Yes Buffalo partnership is to strengthen the Western New York economy by investing in the education of Buffalo’s future workforce. The primary goals of the partnership are to convene the school district, parents, teachers, administrators, state, city and county governments, higher education, community-based organizations, businesses and foundations to increase high school and postsecondary completion rates.

All money raised during this event will go to Cradle Beach to support their work.
